Key Renting Tips
- Always use an ARLA (Association of Residential Letting Agents) registered Agent and confirm what their administration and referencing fees are
- Make sure you have the funds to put down a holding deposit (usually two weeks' rent) – you will be asked to pay this as soon as any offer has been accepted
- When making an offer be clear about any special conditions you may have and the date you want to move in. It is also important to know who will be managing the property during the tenancy
- Read the Tenancy Agreement thoroughly and query anything you are unsure of before signing it
- Attend the inventory check in and check out to ensure you agree with the condition of the property as recorded by the inventory clerk
- You will need to have paid your first month’s rent, security deposit and all fees before you will be given keys. Remember if you are transferring money you should allow five working days for this to appear as cleared funds
