'Munster Village' was developed around Munster Road which was first recorded in the 14th century when it was no more than a rough track running through Fulham’s farmland. In the 16th century the area was dominated by Munster House set in eight acres at the junction with the Fulham Road.
Until the 1870s the area was still rural but as the land was gradually sold to make way for much needed homes, the area now known as 'Munster Village' began to emerge.
Local builders, William Gibbs & John Flew built most of the houses around 'Munster Village', running an extremely successful business employing around a thousand men. Their building works stretched to almost two acres on the site of Munster Farm - where Filmer Road is now. 'Munster Village' houses were considered modest at the time and lived in mainly by tradesmen and labourers.
Today, 'Munster Village' has become a popular residential community with a selection of shops, cafes and restaurants and is very popular with young professionals and families.
